Published in the Official Gazette; Appointment to the Cyber Security Presidency and Court of Accounts Prosecutor

According to the appointment decisions published in the Official Gazette with the signature of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Ümit Önal was appointed as the Head of Cyber Security.
With the decision published in the Official Gazette, Ümit Önal was appointed as the Head of Cyber Security in accordance with Articles 2 and 3 of Presidential Decree No. 3, Muhammed Hüseyin Karabul was appointed as the Vice President of the State Archives Presidency, and Davut Öksüz was appointed as the Court of Accounts Prosecutor, in accordance with the same decree.
Five members of the Court of Accounts who were vacant were elected
On the other hand, with another decision published in today's Official Gazette, members were elected for five vacant seats in the Court of Accounts by the decision of the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM).
With the decision published in the Official Gazette, in accordance with the provisions of Articles 15 and 16 of the Court of Accounts Law No. 6085, dated 03.12.2010, as a result of the election held at the 10th session of the General Assembly dated 22.10.2025 for five vacant positions in the Court of Accounts, Eşref Edip Çiçekli and Necati Küçükaydın were elected as Court of Accounts Members from the quota of Court of Accounts Professional Members, and Coşkun Çekiciler, İsmail Çobanoğlu and Adnan Güran were elected as Court of Accounts Members from the quota of Ministry of Treasury and Finance Professional Members.
Born in Istanbul in 1971, Ümit Önal completed his primary and secondary education there. A graduate of Istanbul University's Faculty of Communication, Ümit Önal had been serving as Türk Telekom CEO since 2019.
Ümit Önal began his career in the media sector and worked at numerous broadcasting organizations from 1994 onward. Beginning in June 2007, Önal served as Group Coordinator responsible for ATV Television and Central Advertising. Following Çalık Holding's acquisition of the media group, he moved on to serve as Turkuvaz Media Advertising Group President. Until 2015, he served as ATV General Manager, Advertising Group President, and a member of the Executive Board.
Ümit Önal, who also served as Digitürk Board Member and General Manager until 2015, managed the sale of Digitürk to the Qatari media company BeIN Group.
On October 26, 2015, at the request of the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, a trustee was appointed to İpek Koza Holding and its companies, and 22 companies were seized. The Savings Deposit Insurance Fund (TMSF) appointed Ümit Önal as the group's head.
Ümit Önal transferred to Türk Telekom at the end of 2016 and served as Deputy General Manager responsible for Sales and Customer Services between 2016 and 2018. He also served as Deputy General Manager responsible for Marketing at the company since December 2018.
Ümit Önal, a member of the Board of Directors of TVYD (Television Broadcasters Association) and RVD (Advertisers Association), had been managing Türk Telekom since July 31, 2019. Ümit Önal is married and has three children.
