Back-to-school crowd at the July 15 Democracy Bus Terminal

Students who are currently enrolled in the 2025-2026 school year will begin classes on September 1st, while others will return to school on September 9th. With school just around the corner, those living in Istanbul who spent their summer vacation in other provinces or who studied in other cities have begun their return journeys. The rush, which began at the July 15 Democracy Bus Terminal, is expected to last a week.
Company representative Hacı Çalışkan said, "I'm here in Kırklareli, and I oversee the Kırklareli region. Schools are always busy during the opening and closing periods. But right now, the rush hasn't really started; it's slowly increasing. Because Kırklareli is closer, we don't have much congestion, but the Anatolian side is more busy. It seems to be a little lower than last year. Last year, it was higher."
'IT'S GETTING MORE CROWDED TOWARDS AUTUMN'Passenger Adem Baydur said, “I travel back and forth frequently. I generally prefer this company. We take these buses to the south of Adıyaman. There's a lot of traffic here, and there are people coming from the opposite direction as well. Traffic is chaotic. It gets especially crowded towards autumn. Bus terminals are extremely crowded during school opening and closing periods. This seems to be one of those. People are coming and going with their families, as well as bringing their winter supplies, bulgur, and pickles from home. That's why there's a significant traffic jam.”
