'Lifelong Learning Week' started in Beyazıt Square

Speaking at the opening, Deputy Minister of National Education Celile Eren Ökten said, "As the Ministry of National Education, we know that learning is not limited by space and time, and we see the right of every individual to learn at every age and under every condition as a sacred responsibility. With this understanding, under the leadership of our Directorate General for Lifelong Learning, we touch millions of citizens with our 1000 Public Education Centers and 28 Advanced Technical Schools spread all over our country, and contribute to their personal, social and professional initiatives."

In terms of enriching and changing careers, non-formal education offers very good opportunities. Every citizen who takes a step on the learning journey builds both their own future and the future of our country. We believe that learning is the greatest gift a person can give to themselves. And this gift is a lifelong value. I hope that this meaningful week will be instrumental in spreading the culture of lifelong learning even more throughout our country."

'WE ARE AT THE DISPOSAL OF OUR CITIZENS'

Governor Davut Gül said, "Of course, there are many jobs that the public does. While doing every job, the determination of problems, the demands of our citizens, new needs, in fact, 'Lifelong' is something like this. Since we cannot solve the issue by limiting education to 12 years only, since the education process continues from our birth to our death, the public provides Lifelong Education to our citizens according to their needs through the Ministry of National Education. In our Istanbul, wherever 10 people come together and say 'we want to receive education in this field. We want a course', our friends open courses under the most suitable conditions and offer this service to our fellow citizens. The needs change very quickly. Now, many of our fellow citizens, our elders who are 60-70 years old, received education in combined classes without seeing a computer during their school years. Now computers, artificial intelligence, new needs have come to our agenda. Therefore, anyone who is 60, 70, 80, 30 years old, who has somehow lost touch with school and wants to improve themselves, we as the state are at the service of our citizens in this sense."

'OUR IMPORTANT PURPOSE IS TO SERVE OUR CITIZENS'

Provincial Director of National Education Murat Mücahit Yentür said, "Serving our citizens is our most important goal. That's why our 45 Public Education Centers, 2 Advanced Technical Schools, and in fact all of our more than 4,000 state schools in Istanbul offer a very important opportunity for lifelong learning opportunities in all of our classrooms. Approximately 200,000 of our trainees have received training from various Lifelong Learning programs in a 6-month period."

Deputy Minister Ökten, Provincial Director of National Education Yentür and their entourage then opened the exhibition. They toured the stands and examined the handicraft products of the trainees. The festival will continue with various events for three days.
