The debate over the 82nd province has escalated! MHP responds to CTP

Speaking at his party's parliamentary group meeting in the Turkish Grand National Assembly, MHP leader Devlet Bahçeli said, "Even if the election results have been announced, parliament must convene urgently. It must be declared that the election results and the return to federation are unacceptable. A decision must be made to join Türkiye." Bahçeli continued, "After Düzce in '81, the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus in '82 has now become a matter of life and death."
Following Bahçeli's statement, the CTP, the party of the TRNC's new President, Tufan Erhürman, released a statement. The statement reacted to Bahçeli and said:
"The statements of Devlet Bahçeli, Chairman of the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP), a political party in the Republic of Turkey, regarding the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus becoming the '82nd province' of Türkiye, are completely contrary to the will of the Turkish Cypriot people, their political equality, and the realities of international law. They are unacceptable. Such statements are a clear attack and disrespect to the Turkish Cypriot people's right to self-determination, their years-long struggle for self-governance, and their demand to be equal political subjects respected internationally. Any political discourse that trivializes the will of the Turkish Cypriot people is unacceptable to us."
"THE TURKISH ARMY DID NOT SAVE THE TURKS OF CYPRUS SO THAT THEY COULD PLAY STATISTICISM LIKE PLAYING BABY"
The debate didn't end even after the CTP's statement. This time, another statement came from MHP Deputy Chairman Semih Yalçın. Yalçın made the following statement on his social media account:
The statement from the CTP, which is "CYPRUS IS TURKISH," used disrespectful and patronizing language toward our esteemed Chairman and the MHP. We strongly condemn this impudence. We remind the CTP, which has become spoiled too soon, and all those who are heedless in their attempts to distance themselves from Türkiye's will: The Turkish army did not save the Turkish Cypriots from the Greek Cypriot and Greek atrocities so that you could play statist as if playing house. We will not stand idly by while the future of the Turkish Cypriots is sacrificed to the Greek Cypriot side's monopolistic dreams of sovereignty and Israel's secret ambitions. We will not stand idly by while the honor and dignity of the Turkish Cypriots are trampled underfoot just to secure EU aid. The adage of the great Turkish nationalist Atatürk: "The security of Türkiye's southern border passes through Cyprus" should be a lesson to all enthusiasts.
