Every drop is healing! Breastfeeding benefits both mother and baby.

Breast milk, crucial for a baby's health and development, also benefits the mother. Important not only for the baby but also for the mother, breastfeeding accelerates postpartum recovery and postpartum weight loss.

Commenting on the matter, Op. Dr. Nadir Cömert of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology said, "Breastfeeding helps establish a special bond between mother and baby. Furthermore, the risk of breast, uterine, and ovarian cancer, as well as the rate of osteoporosis, is reduced in breastfeeding mothers. Breastfeeding mothers develop more lenient responses to any stress they encounter. Serum cortisol and adrenaline levels in breastfeeding mothers show a significant decrease compared to non-breastfeeding mothers. This provides psychological relief for the mother during breastfeeding."

"POST-BIRTH RECOVERY PROCESS ACCELERATES"

Op. Dr. Cömert, stating that breastfeeding protects mothers' health, said, "Breastfeeding reduces the risk of breast, uterine, and ovarian cancers, and osteoporosis. Lower estrogen levels during breastfeeding reduce the risk of breast cancer. Research shows that women who give birth before the age of 30 and breastfeed for a year or more have a significantly reduced risk of developing ovarian cancer. Increases in procollagen carboxyl peptide (PICP), particularly in the first six months of breastfeeding, have been found, and bone resorption markers have been shown to decrease. This significantly reduces the incidence of osteoporosis in breastfeeding mothers. Breastfeeding accelerates the mother's postpartum recovery. The oxytocin hormone released during breastfeeding increases uterine contractions, reducing bleeding in the mother after birth. Because breastfeeding mothers experience less bleeding, long-term complaints related to anemia, such as weakness, palpitations, and easy fatigue, are less common."

"MAKES LOSING PREGNANCY WEIGHT EASIER"

Cömert, who stated that breastfeeding mothers can lose weight more easily after giving birth, said, "Breastfeeding increases a mother's daily energy needs by approximately 500 calories. While some of this increased caloric need is met by the mother's diet, some is met by fat stored during pregnancy. This, in turn, leads to the loss of excess weight gained during pregnancy. Furthermore, a woman who breastfeeds regularly can protect herself from pregnancy for 10 weeks after conception. In mothers who do not breastfeed, pregnancy can occur six weeks after birth."
