Living in Sultangazi , 49-year-old Seyfettin Taşcı applied to the hospital with a high fever 15 years ago.
ELEPHANT DISEASE DIAGNOSISAt the hospital, he was diagnosed with elephantiasis , and his life changed dramatically from that day forward. Seyfettin Taşcı gained weight daily, and in recent years, he was unable to walk. Unable to meet his basic needs, Taşcı sought treatment at numerous hospitals, but no cure was found. As his condition progressed, he became partially bedridden and felt helpless in the face of his dire situation.
Seyfettin Taşcı, who stated that he has been battling elephantiasis for 15 years, said, "I haven't gotten any results. I've been going to hospitals, going back and forth, and they've told me there's no treatment. I can no longer meet my needs. I'm going through difficult times and I'm asking all authorities for help."
Vasfiye Taşcı, unable to hold back her tears as she expressed her desire for her husband to be able to wear shoes and walk outside together, said, "My husband's condition is getting worse, and I want him to get treatment. Like every wife, I want to go out with him, I want to go out. He's been like this for 15 years, and it's getting worse every day. He can't meet his needs, he can't go out on his own, he can't go to the bathroom. We went to every hospital, and they told us there was no treatment. But we look online and see people who have received treatment. There's something like this on television and the internet. And because we don't have the same condition, we couldn't do it. Sometimes, when my husband is sick, he trembles every two or three months, he has a fever, and he has difficulty even walking. I take him to the sink, here and there, without support. He can't walk on his own. I want a solution. Like everyone else, I want to be able to go out with my husband, to walk around. I mean, there are so many problems. I'm asking the authorities for help. Please, get my husband treated. That's all I want. My husband to wear comfortable shoes. And it's been like this for 15 years." "It is like that," he said.
