Fahrelnissa Zeid's special work was exhibited at Istanbul Airport
Passengers continue to encounter art at Istanbul Airport, one of the world's major transfer hubs. Today, in the IGA ART exhibition area, where works by many important artists are exhibited, an exhibition of photographs depicting the life of Turkish painter and sculptor Fahrelnissa Zeid, who is considered one of the greatest female artists of the 20th century, met with passengers. Zeid's oil painting, which she made in 1960 and is in a private collection, attracted great interest from passengers. The 'Solo: Encountering Fahrelnissa Zeid' exhibition also featured archive photographs of the famous artist and exhibition posters.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the exhibition, Istanbul Airport Operator İGA Deputy General Manager Responsible for Trade Server Aydın said, “Fahrelnissa Zeid has blended traditionalism and modernity in Turkish art and played an important role in conveying the cultural heritage of Anatolia to new generations and beyond our geography with her original works recognized worldwide. Known as the first female painter to bring together Eastern and Western art, Zeid is an important ambassador who introduces Turkish culture and art in the international arena. It is extremely easy to polarize the world and emphasize differences. What is really difficult is to appeal to people from different geographies, languages and cultures at the same time. One of the most powerful ways to achieve this is through art. We continue the diversity, richness and inclusiveness we provide in our services in every work we undertake. The ‘Solo: Encountering Fahrelnissa Zeid’ exhibition serves all of these purposes, as well as making us proud to host a very important name of Turkish painting and art at our airport.”
