Beaches in Istanbul are overflowing

With the air temperatures rising above seasonal norms, Istanbulites took to the seaside despite it being a weekday. Escaping the sweltering heat of the city, citizens took a breath of relief by entering the cool waters.

Güneş Beach in Florya also received its share of this interest. Citizens sunbathing and swimming on the beach enjoyed the warm weather. Beach attendants took additional precautions for the safety and comfort of visitors due to the increased density.

Citizens criticize beach conditions

The crowds and rising temperatures on the beach have also brought some problems. Ozan Aydoğan, who came to Menekşe Beach with his family, stated that the beach is not suitable for families and said, "This is actually a family place, we bring our family here, but alcohol is consumed here. The environment is very bad, everywhere is full of seaweed. I ask Bakırköy Municipality, please find a solution here. I want to bring my family and come here with peace of mind. Alcohol is constantly being consumed on my right and left, music is playing, we are very against this. Please clean this place up, look at this, it is a very bad image. We come here, but we cannot go into this sea."

Another visitor Murat Geldi stated that they came to Menekşe Beach to cool off but that the beach was in worse condition than the previous visits and said, "We spend our holidays in Istanbul like this because we work. It was better when we came before because of financial difficulties but this time there is a lot of seaweed, our child even plays with the stones and cannot even go into the sea. The sea was not clean today, he could not go into the sea because of the seaweed and dirt. We saw that this place is very neglected right now, I do not think of coming again, we cannot go into the sea either, it was very bad for us." İHA
