September's culture and arts agenda: concerts, exhibitions, festivals

The world-renowned piano duo Güher and Süher Pekinel, who attach great importance to projects that support young musicians, are bringing the "Pekinel International Masterclass" program to life at the AKM, a first in Türkiye.
The program, held at the Atatürk Cultural Center from September 6–12, will bring together young musicians with masters of classical music for six days under the direction of Prof. Dr. Markus Becker. Solo, duo, trio, and two-piano categories will be covered under one roof for the first time. The creative aspect of improvisation will be highlighted throughout the masterclass. The program will conclude with a Markus Becker recital on September 11 and a concert on September 12, where Güher and Süher Pekinel will share the stage with young talents. ATATÜRK AND REFİK ANADOL EXHIBITIONS AT THE İZMİR FAIRThe Atatürk exhibition "And His Blue Eyes Were Flint Lighter," opened at the Atlas Pavilion in Kültürpark as part of the 94th İzmir International Fair, and Refik Anadol's exhibitions "The Perception of Healing" and "Machine Dreams: The Aegean" have attracted considerable attention since their inception. The exhibition, featuring never-before-seen photographs of Atatürk, documents, letters from Zübeyde Hanım, and personal belongings, will remain open until December 21st. Refik Anadol's works can be visited until September 30th.
CARTOON EXHIBITION IN BURSA: 'HOPE RISING FROM ASHES'The exhibition "Hope Rising from Ashes," prepared as part of the Aydın Doğan International Cartoon Competition, will be on display for art lovers at the Bursa Nilüfer Municipality Nâzım Hikmet Culture House from September 6–28. The exhibition highlights recent forest fires. The works, which emphasize the regenerative power of nature through cartoon art, offer art lovers a journey that is both thought-provoking and hopeful.
VAN GOGH EXPERIENCE IN ISTANBULThe "Van Gogh: In Search of Light" exhibition, opened at the Istanbul Digital Experience Center, welcomed over 25,000 visitors in just ten days. Created with artificial intelligence, augmented reality, and interactive projections, the exhibition reinterprets the painter's life and works in various dimensions. The exhibition will remain open to the public until the end of the year.
NEW SEASON AT ZORLU PSMOne of the most prominent works on the theater stage is "Pressure Cooker on Low Heat." A production of Zorlu PSM, the play begins its second season at %100 Studio on October 5th.
Zorlu PSM is also offering a packed program of concerts, film screenings, and special tours throughout September. The film "The Usual Suspects" will premiere on September 8th; City Sounds: Bussi on September 10th; the Günce Acı concert on September 11th; a Melis Karaduman performance on September 12th; the Unseen Tour and Murathan concert on September 13th; and the Unseen Kids Tour and the play "Güzel Son" (Beautiful Son) on September 14th.
'THERE IS LIFE IN ART' EXHIBITIONThe "Art Has Life" exhibition, organized by İVA Sanat and sponsored by Hayat Holding and Hayat Finans, will be open to art lovers at the Ortaköy Hüsrev Kethüda Hammam from October 7–19. This year, the exhibition will be accompanied by the social responsibility project "What Remains from Life to Art." University students will demonstrate how upcycling can be achieved through art by transforming industrial waste into works of art.
JALE YAVUZ'S 45TH YEAR OF ARTThe AKM Music Platform is hosting the "Silent Stories" exhibition, a special exhibition commemorating Jale Yavuz's 45th anniversary, from September 9–15. The exhibition features selected works that blend contemporary interpretations of illumination and miniature art.
BOOK FAIRS ARE BEGINNINGTüyap Book Fairs will meet book lovers in different cities of Türkiye starting in September.

JAZZ FESTIVALS AND CONCERTSThe 35th Akbank Jazz Festival will take place at various venues in Istanbul from September 27 to October 12. The festival will host more than 200 artists.
On the other hand, Kalben will meet music lovers with a view of the Bosphorus on September 21st at Mastercard's "Jazz on the Cruise" concert.
World-renowned tenor Mario Frangoulis is embarking on a Türkiye tour as part of his 35th year in the arts. He will perform at the Istanbul Harbiye Open Air Theatre on September 23rd, the Izmir Kültürpark Open Air Theatre on September 25th, and the Ankara ATO Congresium on September 27th.
ANTALYA GOLDEN ORANGE FILM FESTIVALThe 62nd International Antalya Golden Orange Film Festival will be held between October 24 and November 2.

ARS ELECTRONICA IN ISTANBUL
Ars Electronica, one of the world's most prestigious media art festivals, is taking place in Istanbul for the first time this year. Taking place at Zorlu PSM from October 21–28, the festival will offer a wide-ranging program, from spatial installations and performances to light and sound experiments and artificial intelligence works.
SPECIAL ACTIVITIES FOR CHILDREN
The 21st TÜRSAK Children's Film Festival in Kayseri brings children together with cinema with free screenings at Paribu Cineverse Forum Kayseri from September 6–10.
İş Sanat is also organizing free workshops for children at the Türkiye İş Bankası Museum throughout September. Activities like medal design, postcard making, celebratory crown making, and currency design are opening doors to cultural heritage for children.
