Night museums begin: 27 historical places will dazzle

According to the statement made by the ministry, museums and historical sites all around Türkiye will be open to visitors on summer nights with the 'night museum' to be implemented between June 1 and October 1. Thousands of years of history will once again take on a completely different appearance under the moonlight and stars.

Cultural heritage at 27 different points extending from Istanbul to Adıyaman, from İzmir to Şanlıurfa will be able to be visited with illuminations at night within the scope of the application.

Places such as Hagia Sophia History and Experience Museum, Galata Tower, Ephesus Archaeological Site, Patara, Nemrut, Zelve-Paşabağları, Zeugma Mosaic Museum will open their doors to both history enthusiasts and night explorers this summer.

The application, which offers the opportunity to visit historical structures during cool night hours for those who are exhausted by the summer heat, will offer a different experience especially to summer vacationers and culture enthusiasts. The archaeological sites, which gain a dramatic appearance with lighting, will continue to whisper their historical narratives in silence.

MUSEUM VISITING HOURS

Visiting hours at historical sites that will be open to visitors as part of the night museum program will vary. While some museums will remain open until 21:00, visits at important destinations such as the Ephesus Archaeological Site will continue until 23:00.

Nemrut Archaeological Site in Adıyaman will start welcoming visitors who want to watch the sunrise at 04:00 in the morning.

In Istanbul, Archaeological Museums, Hagia Sophia History and Experience Museum, Turkish and Islamic Arts Museum can be visited until 22:00, and Galata Tower until 23:00.

In Ankara, the Museum of Anatolian Civilizations and the Ethnography Museum will welcome visitors until 21:00.

Additionally, Samsun Museum can be visited until 22:00; Erzurum Museum, Zeugma Mosaic Museum in Gaziantep, Şanlıurfa Museum, Haleplibahçe Mosaic Museum and Zelve-Paşa Bağları Archaeological Site in Nevşehir, Derinkuyu Underground City, Kaymaklı Underground City and Özkonak Underground City can be visited until 21:00.

In Antalya, Antalya Museum, Alanya Museum, Aspendos Ruins, Patara Ruins, Side Ruins, and Necropolis Museum will open their doors to visitors until 23:00.

The Hierapolis Archaeological Site in Denizli can be visited until 23:00, the Didim Archaeological Site in Aydın until 21:00, the Bodrum Underwater Archaeology Museum in Muğla until 22:00, the Museum Izmir Culture and Art Factory in Izmir until 21:00, and the Ephesus Archaeological Site until 23:00 on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays.
