ABOUT KHRUANGBINThey released their debut album, "The Universe Smiles Upon You," in 2015. By late 2016, they had attracted the attention of music media outlets ranging from The Guardian to i-D, and gained wider recognition through Bonobo's "Late Nights" compilation. This was also the period when Istanbul audiences first encountered them.
In early 2018, they released "Con Todo El Mundo." The following year, they released a dub version, "Hasta El Cielo." In early 2020, they introduced their fans to a vocal version of their music, not an instrumental one, with the EP "Texas Sun," a nod to their home state and the start of their long-lasting collaboration with soul and R&B musician Leon Bridges. This app update allowed them to reach a much wider audience.
In the midst of the global pandemic of 2020, they released their third studio album, "Mordechai." Released in 2022 with Vieux Farka Touré, son of Malian blues musician Ali Farka Touré, their album "Ali," named after the cult musician, paid homage to West African music.
They finally returned in April of this year with their fifth studio album, "A La Sala," which they described as "an exercise in going back in order to move forward."
Each of the trio is eager to explore different world music genres and they include Anatolian rock veterans like Erkin Koray and Barış Manço in their playlists.
While they include the word "life" in many languages in their song "Time (You And I)", they do not neglect to say it in Turkish as well.
