2025 excavations begin in Kedrai Ancient City

The 2025 excavations at the Kedrai Ancient City, which is supported by the Heritage to the Future Project implemented by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism with the status of an excavation with a Presidential Decree, will start on June 23 under the sponsorship of the Marmaris Chamber of Commerce (MTO).

🔹 AA Live for instant developmentsUnder the presidency of Sevilay Zeynep Yıldız, Assistant Professor at the Archaeology Department of the Faculty of Letters of Muğla Sıtkı Koçman University, excavation, landscaping, protection and conservation works will be carried out in the ancient city.
In a written statement made by the Marmaris Chamber of Commerce, it was stated that the excavations in the late-era theater complex and eastern hill area, which started last year, will continue and deepen this year.
The statement included the following statements:
"This year, new archaeological research will begin in the area of the great basilica, and the structure of the city will be revealed more. Once known only for Cleopatra Beach, Sedir Island will now shape the cultural vision of Marmaris with its identity as a sustainable historical and natural heritage site."
