A citizen who uses rainwater with a system he installed has become a center of attention on social media. Hasan Akkaya, a resident of the Hacı Ömer Alpagot neighborhood of the Antakya district, was sitting at home with his children when he noticed the water supply had been cut off. Akkaya checked the tanks on the roof of his house and found both tanks empty. During the heavy rain, Akkaya diverted the pipe and began storing rainwater.

Hasan Akkaya, who explained that he found a solution to the drought by storing rainwater , said, "We're experiencing the driest year in Hatay in 65 years. There are frequent water outages due to the drought. I went up to the tanks and checked, and realized there was no water. It was raining, and then I had an idea. Then I took a pipe, built this system, and filled the tanks. I filled two tanks with rainwater. I shared my system on social media and received positive feedback. I filled two tanks with the rainwater. I use rainwater for bathing, washing dishes, and in the sink. Rainwater is very clean. It doesn't cost anything. I just got tired and wet."
