The district swallowed by snow! The rain has stopped, citizens are looking for their cars lost under the snow: We experience this every year

The snowfall that has been effective in Kastamonu for the last two weeks has negatively affected life. In Küre district, one of the districts where the snowfall was most effective, the snow depth exceeded 2 meters. Life in the district was almost paralyzed due to the snowfall. After the rain stopped yesterday, citizens started to search for their vehicles lost under the snow.

Citizens are also trying to clear the snow off the roofs of their homes with shovels to prevent it from collapsing.

The snow covering the streets and avenues in the district center is loaded onto trucks with construction equipment and transported out of the district by Küre Municipality teams.

In the district where citizens and teams are making great efforts to return life to normal, meters-long icicles have formed on the buildings. The indoor astroturf pitch in the district collapsed due to the weight of the snow. There were no casualties or injuries in the incident.

"OUR DISTRICT IS THE ONE THAT RECEIVES THE MOST SNOW AMONG OUR 19 DISTRICTS"

Küre Mayor Salih Turan, who provided information about the work carried out after the snowfall in the district, said, "2 meters and 10 centimeters of snow fell in our district center. This increased to 3.5 meters in the villages. Snowfall stopped as of yesterday. But since our district is small, our fight against snow continues. We collect the snow with trucks and carry it outside the district center. We collect the snow somewhere. The astroturf pitch we had built in our district also collapsed. We had it made of 2.5 meters of snow-resistant steel when we were building it. But despite this, it collapsed. Thankfully, we did not lose any lives. The snowfall also stopped. After this, the process of carrying snow in the district has started. Our district receives the most snow among our 19 districts. This happens every year. We experience this every year."

"OUR FRIENDS HAD DIFFICULTY FINDING THEIR VEHICLES"

Aydın Çelik, who lives in the district, said that they could barely get their vehicles out from under the snow and said, "The snow depth in our district has exceeded 2 meters. There is more snow in our villages. We experience this every year. There was not much snow for 3-4 years, but it fell again this year. Even our cars in our district were covered in snow. Some of our friends had difficulty finding their vehicles. Everyone is trying to clean their roofs. Hopefully, we will get through this snowfall without any problems."
