Nureddin Yıldız protest at Boğaziçi University: 5 students released

Theologian Nureddin Yıldız's words in a program he attended in 2015, "There is no age limit in our sharia, Islam, regarding marriage. What does this mean? A child can get married before puberty. Marriages can also be held between children. Marriages can be held between adults and children," drew a great reaction.
Yıldız was invited as a guest to an event organized by Boğaziçi University Islamic Studies Club (BİSAK). He was going to be a speaker at the event titled “Islamic sciences: For whom, how much?”
Students who did not want Yıldız to speak at their university gathered at the North Campus. Students chanted the slogan, “Nurettin Yıldız, get out of my university!”
The police intervened harshly against the students who gathered on campus. A total of 97 young people were detained during the intervention. Many of the detained students were taken away with handcuffs behind their backs.
