İmamoğlu's lawyer Mehmet Pehlivan was arrested
Ekrem İmamoğlu, who is detained in Marmara Prison in Silivri, also made a statement regarding the decision:
“You are afraid of my picture, you are afraid of my voice, you are afraid of my words, you are afraid of my name being mentioned… But at some point I did not think that you would be afraid of me defending myself, of me even using my right to defend myself. As you fail to convince the people of your lies, you become more and more aggressive. You are becoming so helpless that you are arresting my lawyer. You are struggling and struggling in the dark vortex that you have entered and dragged the country into. All you have left are a handful of slanderers who you threaten with their families, property, honor and dignity.”

CHP Chairman Özgür Özel reacted to Pehlivan's arrest in the video he shared on his X account. Özel wrote:
“This happened in the 3rd month of the March 19 Coup! They arrested our President Ekrem’s lawyer Mehmet Pehlivan because he defended his client. They took Türkiye to the darkness of the Middle Ages and attacked the right to defense. I am complaining to our nation about the understanding that has been forced down the throat of the lawyer so that their perceptions do not collapse. Shame on them!”

İmamoğlu's lawyer Mehmet Pehlivan was detained on March 27 under the "Law on Prevention of Laundering Proceeds of Crime".
Pehlivan, who spent the night at the police station, was sent to the courthouse after the procedures were completed. The prosecutor referred him to the Criminal Court of Peace with a request for judicial control. Pehlivan was released on the condition of judicial control and a ban on travelling abroad.
