Hasan Göğüş: Things are not going the way Trump wants

Trump based his election campaign on the slogan "Make America Great Again" (MAGA). But things aren't going quite as Trump intended.
The budget deficit is widening daily. Last May, the deficit reached $316 billion. According to the Congressional Budget Office, the US debt is expected to reach $50.7 trillion by 2034. With the new tariffs announced by Trump taking effect on August 1st, inflation is also likely to begin to rise rapidly.
Seeing the danger, US Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell is resisting lowering interest rates despite Trump publicly calling him a "fool."
Under these circumstances, an America whose economy is deteriorating, whose world has retreated into its introversion, and whose international reputation has been lost, will not become great again, but at best, will become smaller.
