Falling tiles caused panic! 5-storey building evacuated

The incident occurred on the 2nd floor of a 5-storey building on Çenesuyu Street in Çınarlı Neighbourhood, Derince district, at around 22:30. After some tiles in the bathroom of a house on the 2nd floor suddenly fell, the person living in the flat reported the situation to the 112 Emergency Call Centre.
Following the report, health, fire, Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency (AFAD), Provincial Directorate of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, police and municipal police teams were dispatched to the area. Police teams closed the street to vehicle and pedestrian traffic, and the building where 20 people lived was evacuated.
In their examination of the apartment, the building and its surroundings, AFAD and Provincial Directorate of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change teams determined that there was no damage to the building's load-bearing systems, but that there was repairable damage to the non-load-bearing system.
After the investigation, which lasted about 1 and a half hours, the residents of the building returned to their homes.
