Exam-free university period: Who can benefit... Most preferred departments... Application dates

Students and graduates who have completed an undergraduate or associate's degree can earn an additional diploma thanks to the "second university without an exam " opportunity. They can take advantage of this opportunity by enrolling in open education programs at Anadolu, Istanbul, Atatürk, and Ankara universities without taking any exams. This program allows individuals to earn a second diploma by studying in a different field. It also provides them with the opportunity to diversify their careers and work in other sectors.
THERE ARE MANY DEPARTMENTS IN ASSOCIATE DEGREE AND UNDERGRADUATE DEGREE
According to a report by Melike Çakalp from Hürriyet, the programs offered by universities' Open and Distance Education Faculties are quite diverse. Undergraduate programs include international entrepreneurship and management information systems, while associate degrees offer opportunities in a wide range of fields, including computer programming and brand communication. However, not every university offers the same programs. Department options can vary from university to university. Therefore, it's important for applicants to check the university's official websites to see if their preferred department is available.
APPLICATION DATES
Application deadlines for universities offering second university placements without entrance exams vary. Istanbul University accepts applications between July 28 and October 12, while Anadolu University accepts applications between July 21 and October 17. Applications for Ankara University are accepted between August 11 and September 30, and for Atatürk University, between May 2 and October 3.
THINGS TO CONSIDER
However, there are some important rules to keep in mind during the application process. First, candidates must choose a second university program that is not the same as the one they currently study or graduated from. This means they cannot re-select a program they previously studied.
Another important rule is that graduates of two-year associate's degree programs cannot apply to four-year undergraduate programs at a second university without an entrance exam. These candidates can only enroll in another associate's degree program.
THOSE OVER 35 CAN APPLY
According to a decision made last year by the Council of Higher Education (YÖK), an age limit has been introduced for some undergraduate programs offered by universities' open and distance education faculties. According to this regulation, only individuals aged 35 and over are eligible to apply for programs such as philosophy, sociology, and history.
Some universities expand this limitation and include the Turkish Language and Literature department among the programs that have an age requirement.
YÖK President Erol Özvar stated that the primary purpose of the decision was to maintain employment stability. Özvar explained, “We've observed that many students enrolled in various associate and undergraduate programs have transferred to programs where we've introduced a 35-year age requirement to take advantage of the opportunity to transition to teaching, and a surge in student numbers has begun. Our decision aims to prevent this.”
