The defendants in the Newborn Gang scandal, which came to light in Istanbul, are appearing before the judge. The trial has begun at the Bakırköy 21st High Criminal Court for 13 defendants, including Mustafa Kemal Zengin, who is accused of threatening Public Prosecutor Yavuz Engin, who is leading the Newborn Gang investigation, in his office.

The defendants are being tried on charges of "establishing a terrorist organization," "attempting to kill a public official," and "attempting to influence the judiciary."

Tension rose

According to journalist Emrullah Erdinç, the victimized Public Prosecutor Yavuz Engin, along with detained defendants Mustafa Kemal Zengin and Aylin Arslantatar, and other defendants were present at the hearing. When Mustafa Kemal Zengin, who threatened Prosecutor Yavuz Engin in his office, declared in his defense, "The prosecutor set up a conspiracy," tensions in the courtroom suddenly escalated.

Prosecutor Engin reacted to Zengin's words and said, "The state does not conspiracy, know your place!"
