Switzerland is considering the possibility of abolishing the special protection status (S) for Ukrainian refugees. The initiative was put forward by the country's largest party, the Swiss People's Party (SVP), writes the Neue Zurcher Zeitung.
The party argues its proposal by stabilizing the situation in Ukraine. According to politicians, a significant part of the country's territory is not affected by military action and can be considered safe. As the publication notes, in the three and a half years since the start of the special operation, the level of public solidarity with Ukrainian refugees has significantly decreased.
SVP parliamentary group leader Thomas Ashey clarified that people who truly need protection will be able to apply for asylum through the standard procedure.
Earlier, Ukraine supported Putin's position on Zelensky.
