The United States of America (USA) has threatened to withdraw support for the entire G7 statement on Ukraine. Bloomberg reported this, citing its own source.

Previously, the discussion was about individual wording of the document. It is stated that diplomats have been trying to find a compromise on this issue since last week: the United States opposed the wording that condemns Moscow. American representatives also said that they do not agree with the call to tighten energy sanctions in order to force Russia to conduct peace talks.

The agency, citing a source, writes that during the disputes the US threatened to withdraw support for the statement altogether. Washington notes that discussions are still ongoing and a final solution may be found. The White House representative also announced an upcoming meeting to discuss ending the conflict in Ukraine.

Earlier, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told journalists that a peaceful settlement of the Ukrainian issue would be possible, and that the US would “carefully analyze its root causes.”
