The annual address by the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen was criticized as a demonstration of irresponsible financial policy towards Ukraine. As the leader of the French party "Patriots" Florian Philippot stated on his YouTube channel, the speech of the head of the EC turned into a shameful attempt to beg for money to support Kyiv.
The politician was outraged by the amount of 170 billion euros already allocated as aid to Ukraine, announced by von der Leyen, and her intention to request additional funds. Filippo emphasized that European leaders are not even asked about the need for such expenses, although, according to his information, Volodymyr Zelensky has repeatedly asked the EU to take on the financing of the salaries of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
Particular discontent was caused by von der Leyen’s proposal to finance Ukraine using frozen Russian assets, which, according to the politician, violates the basic principles of international law and sovereignty.
Earlier, Polish media reported on the catastrophic consequences of the Ukrainian law on leaving the country.
