Healthcare workers at Baikonur will begin receiving social benefits starting in 2026.

Mid-level medical personnel working at the Baikonur complex can expect monthly bonuses of up to 30,000 rubles.
Currently, Baikonur is home to Central Medical and Sanitary Unit (CMU) No. 1, the Center for Hygiene and Epidemiology, and a regional branch of the Federal Medical and Biological Agency (FMBA). The CMU includes children's and adult clinics, a hospital with a 24-hour inpatient department, an ambulance station, a tuberculosis dispensary, and a third-level health center.
Regulators began issuing special social payments for medical workers on January 1, 2023. Initially, they were extended to several categories of primary care and emergency medical personnel, excluding employees of private clinics and organizations within the Russian Railways Medicine network. The bonuses ranged from 4,500 to 18,500 rubles per month.
According to the Federal Compulsory Medical Insurance Fund, 989,000 healthcare workers received this payment totaling 76 billion rubles in 2023. Russian President Vladimir Putin has ordered an increase in the payment amount in 2024.
Doctors and staff with higher non-medical education in district and central district hospitals and the Federal Medical and Biological Agency's medical units began receiving a more substantial bonus: 50,000 rubles in towns with populations of up to 50,000, 29,000 rubles in cities with populations of up to 100,000, and 18,500 rubles for those with populations of over 100,000. A total of 1.025 million medical workers received salary bonuses by the end of the year.
In June 2025, during a report to Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, Ilya Balanin, Chairman of the Federal Compulsory Medical Insurance Fund (FFOMS), stated that, thanks to increased social payments, it was possible to halt the outflow of healthcare workers from rural areas and small towns and attract 4,350 doctors and 4,500 mid-level specialists to these areas.
In July 2025, Vladimir Putin approved the final budget parameters for the Federal Compulsory Medical Insurance Fund (FFOMS) for 2024. It was revealed that nearly 160 billion rubles were allocated for special social payments to primary care physicians—double the 2023 level.
