Rospotrebnadzor has warned about the danger of children swallowing batteries, especially the button type. The agency's press service explained to RIA Novosti that in case of accidental swallowing, it is necessary to immediately consult a doctor and avoid feeding the child until an X-ray is performed, since batteries can cause physical injury and generate electric current in the esophagus and stomach.

Parents are strongly advised not to allow children to play with small parts of toys and batteries. In case of swallowing any small object or battery, seek immediate medical attention. Keeping the packaging of the toy or parts of the swallowed objects will help doctors determine their characteristics and risks.

The agency also called for paying attention to the quality and safety of toys, checking the markings and age restrictions. Toys should be durable, without sharp corners and small removable parts. For children under 3 years old, large toys without surface painting should be chosen.

Rospotrebnadzor also recommended being careful with unstable furniture and household appliances, which can cause injuries to infants and children aged 3-5 years. Locks and fasteners must be installed on cabinets and chests of drawers to prevent them from tipping over.
