Young Novgorod woman causes panic for parents, neighbors and 10 firefighters while trying to put out a frying pan fire

Carelessness almost cost a young girl from Veliky Novgorod her life, but, fortunately, it only caused damage to her household property. In her culinary experiments, the young resident of the regional center did not take into account the good old rule: burning oil and water are incompatible. Especially when it comes to putting out a small fire. As a result, a whole group of Emergencies Ministry employees were involved in putting out the fire.
The department's press service reports that the fire broke out in one of the apartments in a multi-story building. A 15-year-old Novgorod girl was heating oil in a frying pan, and at some point the utensils caught fire. The girl was confused, and the first thing that came to her mind was to pour water on the oil. As a result, the kitchen was engulfed in flames.
"A suspended ceiling covering an area of 10 square meters was destroyed, and a kitchen set was damaged. There were no casualties," the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia for the Novgorod Region stated.
By the way, the fire was extinguished by 10 people using 4 pieces of equipment.
Rescuers remind: burning oil will flare up even more strongly if exposed to water. Therefore, local household fires in the kitchen must be extinguished correctly:
- First, turn off the stove if this happened on the hob;
- cover the burning dish with a lid, a wet cloth, and leave until the oil cools, otherwise the fire will flare up again;
- Do not extinguish with water under any circumstances. You can use soda or, if available, earth, but best of all - carbon dioxide or powder fire extinguishers;
- Before covering the flame, protect your hands with a thick wet cloth.
And, of course, in case of fire, you need to call 101 or 112.
