The dollar settlement rate, which is a benchmark for the over-the-counter market, fell below 86 rubles for the first time since September 3, 2024. This follows from trading data as of 10:12 Moscow time, RIA Novosti reported on Tuesday, February 25.
Thus, the American currency fell by 1.23 rubles to 85.59 rubles compared to the previous close.
The official dollar exchange rate set by the Central Bank for the weekend and on February 24 was 88.17 rubles.
Earlier, Russia reported that the ruble exchange rate had stabilized at 88-91 per dollar. This opinion was expressed by Mikhail Belyaev, PhD in Economics and financial analyst.
He also noted that in the long term there is a tendency for the ruble exchange rate to decline against national currencies, primarily the dollar.
