Obstetric tourism will be developed in the Vologda region

The demographic situation in the Vologda Region was discussed yesterday in the regional government. The Governor of the Region, Georgy Filimonov, brought together doctors from private medical clinics. Representatives of the Vologda Metropolitanate and the medical community of the region also took part.
The head of the region told those present about new support measures. All of them are aimed at solving the demographic problem. One of them is obstetric tourism. Visiting women who give birth in the Vologda region will be able to receive 50 thousand rubles. In addition, the regional budget will continue to finance free IVF procedures for childless couples.
Georgy Filimonov said that over the past five years the rate of population decline in the region has been 3.4%. At the same time, the average Russian level is no more than 0.4%. Vologda Oblast loses more than 8.5 thousand citizens per year, including those of working age. The number of women of childbearing age is also decreasing.
We would like to add that a whole range of new support measures for young and large families have been launched in the region.
