Georgian mixed martial artist (MMA), Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) champion Merab Dvalishvili chose between Russians Petr Yan and Umar Nurmagomedov. His answer is quoted by Sport24 .
Dvalishvili said that Yan is tougher than Nurmagomedov Jr. According to him, the former has had many fights with top fighters and is constantly active. "And Umar... We only saw his fights with me and Cory Sandhagen. He needs to fight the top fighters in the division. No, of course, Umar is a good fighter. But he needs to be active. Where is he now? Why isn't he fighting?" the Georgian noted.
Dvalishvili fought both Russians. In 2023, he defeated Yan, and in January 2025, he was stronger than Nurmagomedov.
Dvalishvili, 34, has a 20-4 MMA record and is the UFC bantamweight champion.
