Wooden yurts were set up on the coast, and the cleanup participants were offered hot tea and treats. Sports competitions such as tug-of-war, weight lifting, and playing langa were organized for the townspeople.

About 600 residents took part in the environmental campaign around the city, 15 units of equipment were used. During the cleanup, about 100 tons of garbage were removed. The improvement work took place not only on the coast, but also in the Akbota Park, as well as in the courtyards of several microdistricts.

As part of the event, an off-site meeting was held, at which the deputy regional head of the Department of Natural Resources and Nature Management Regulation, Khaidar TULEUSHOV, spoke about the unauthorized waste dumps identified in the region.

According to the geoportal of JSC NC Kazakhstan Gharysh Sapary, 68 unauthorized dumps were discovered in the region last year. In 2024, 98 percent of them were eliminated and information on the work carried out was uploaded to the geoportal. The remaining four points are located on the territory of a private entrepreneur in Zhanaozen. Work on their cleanup is planned to be completed by the end of this year.

According to the final satellite images obtained on June 24, 2025, 61 illegal waste disposal sites were identified in the Mangistau region. According to the Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Management, official letters were sent to cities and districts with instructions to eliminate unauthorized dumps.

Meanwhile, the head of the region, Nurdaulet KILYBAY, was outraged by the constant littering of the area near Lake Malaya Oymasha.

- It was already cleared of garbage a month and a half ago. But, as we see, the situation is repeating itself. I believe that it is not the residents of Mangistau who pollute, but people who do not respect their land. All types of waste should be taken to special landfills. Law enforcement agencies need to tighten control over those who throw garbage in unauthorized places. If necessary, install video cameras in places where dumps are regularly formed. If we do not take action now, this will lead to big problems and expenses, - noted Nurdaulet Kilybay.
