Swimming/World Championships: Diogo Ribeiro qualified for the semi-finals of the 100 butterfly

Portuguese Diogo Ribeiro qualified today for the semi-finals of the 100-meter butterfly at the Singapore 2025 World Swimming Championships, after completing the heats with the ninth best time of 51.34 seconds.
Ribeiro, world champion at this distance in Doha2024, came close to his personal and national record, 51.17, and qualified for the semi-finals, scheduled for 12:10 in Lisbon today.
In Singapore, Swiss Noe Ponti, with 50.68, was the fastest of the qualifiers, and one of two who went under 51, alongside Australian Matthew Temple (50.97).
The 20-year-old from Coimbra was already fourth in the 50 butterfly, another distance in which he was defending a world title, and today he was faster than names like the Frenchman Maxime Grousset or the Italian Thomas Ceccon.
Later this morning, the Portuguese athlete will return to the pool to swim the 50-meter freestyle, also in the qualifiers, while Camila Rebelo will face the 200-meter backstroke, in which she is the European champion, and Diana Durães will face the 800-meter freestyle.
