Rita Ferreira called up to the Under/23 National Team

The Portuguese Football Federation announced, the day before yesterday, the first ever call-up of the National Women's Under/23 Futsal Team, which will begin its activity next week, under the technical command of Ricardo Azevedo. The announced squad includes 15 players, with a notable presence being Rita Ferreira, the 18-year-old goalkeeper who has been a regular for Novasemente. The youngster joined the Espinho club this season from Maia Futsal. During the training camp, which will take place at the Rio Maior Training Center Pavilion, the Portuguese team will face Belgium in two friendly matches. "This new under-23 level will serve as an additional transitional step for players coming from the youth teams, in a year in which the main Women's National Team will compete in the World Cup," explains the Portuguese Football Federation.
Also called up for the preparation work were Inês Couto (Aliados Lordelo), Mariana Teixeira (CR Leões Porto Salvo), Inês Maia and Inês Padinha (Futsal Feijó), Beatriz Fonseca (Nun'Álvares), Catarina Lopes (LBTL Futsal Alcantarilla), Margarida Gonçalves (Maia Futsal), Margarida Carvalho (Atlético Torcal), Maria Costa (Sp. Braga), Madalena Ferraz (Torreense), Alexandra Melo and Ana Oliveira (Benfica) and Beatriz Vicente (Sporting).
