Powerboating: National aquabike elite promises a spectacle on the Mondego

The adrenaline of the National Aquabike Championship returns to Coimbra for a weekend that promises to shake up the waters of the Mondego River. Choupalinho is the focal point of the Coimbra Grand Prix, a competition that includes the second round of the National Aquabike, jet ski and jet ski competitions. “It has been 20 years since the Municipality of Coimbra hosted river events”, recalled the councillor of Coimbra City Council, Carlos Lopes, when presenting the event. Expressing “satisfaction and joy” at the return to Coimbra, the president of the Portuguese Motorboat Federation (FPM), Paulo Ferreira, recalled that, in addition to the events in the Circuit and Endurance categories, the event includes a “Formula Futuro” action, “aimed at children and young people”.
Tours, first contact with jet skis and boats are some of the aims of the action that aims to bring the youngest ones closer to the sport. “The highlight is this issue of schools. Tomorrow [today] we have a school that will provide students with their first contact with water”, he highlighted.
