Moto3: Piqueras wins in Catalonia and seeks to recover in the championship

This Sunday (07), Moto3 took to the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, in Spain, for another race of the season, where the vice-leader of the championship, Ángel Piqueras, was crowned winner and reduced Rueda's advantage in the championship.
Piqueras' return from summer break has been crucial for the championship, as his rival has won eight races this season alone. After his victory at the Red Bull Ring, the Spaniard is back on track and aims to go all the way to the end of the championship, chipping away at the KTM rider's large lead over him.
The battles were intense from the start and Almansa held on to the lead for a long time. On lap 9, Maximo Quiles overtook and brought Angel Piqueras with him, thus the Leopard Racing driver dropped back to third position, but soon recovered.
Jacob Roulestone was having one of his best races in Moto3, but he had problems with his bike and ended up retiring from the race.
In contrast, on lap 11, championship leader José Antonio Rueda, who had been lapped for a long time, took the lead with a double overtake on Almansa and Quiles. Quiles, as he lost positions, was involved in a collision that dropped him to fourteenth place.
The race reached its climax when the leader and runner-up met on the track and began battling for the win. The importance of the 5 points was crucial for Piqueras, who now trails his compatriot by 74 points.
On the final lap, Piqueras took the lead, causing Rueda to lose significant positions, dropping back to fourth. The final lap was thrilling, with the MT Helmets rider holding onto first place, while his rival reclaimed second. Taiyo Furusato finished third, having gained seven positions during the race.
Moto3 returns to the track next week, at the Misano Circuit, in San Marino, Italy.
