Palmeiras suffered, but managed to secure the lead in Group A. Despite their poor performance, Verdão managed to draw against Inter Miami and will now face Botafogo in the quarter-finals of the Club World Cup.

The main reason for the result was Maurício. The attacking midfielder came off the bench and scored the goal that equalized the score. The player lamented that Palmeiras had to play a recovery game and described the feeling of scoring in a major tournament.

"It's an identity that we know we have. Of course we don't want to prove it all the time, we always want to be ahead on the scoreboard, to have the peace of mind to play the game. But it had to be this way, I'm very happy, a dream come true to be able to score a goal in a major competition, to have helped the team," he said in an interview with SporTV.

Verdão had a very poor match, letting their opponents work the ball and score two goals to take the lead. For Maurício, Palmeiras was unable to work the ball well, leaving it too much with Inter, and also fell behind on the scoreboard due to a lack of attention.

"I think we didn't work the ball as we should have. We were careless, I think it was on a corner kick in our favor that we ended up making a mistake. It's also a shame about Murilo, I think he could have gotten there and made a mess of things. Then we got a little anxious, and let them have too much possession of the ball. Any team that you let keep possession of the ball gets complicated. But we managed to get it together for the second half and come away with the draw," he highlighted.
