Dutch defender Jeremie Frimpong has joined Liverpool on a long-term contract after leaving German side Bayer Leverkusen after four and a half years, the English champions announced on Friday.
"Liverpool have completed the signing of Jeremie Frimpong from Bayer Leverkusen. The Dutch international has signed a long-term contract (...) after successfully passing a medical," the Merseyside club said on their official website. Internet.
The right-back, capped 12 times by the Netherlands, spent the last four and a half seasons at Bayer Leverkusen, scoring 30 goals and providing 39 assists, and has now made the jump to the English Premier League, a "very easy" decision.
"It was very easy. Liverpool came and said they were interested, and obviously for me it was an easy decision. Liverpool fans, I'm going to give it my all with all my energy, my work rate and I hope we can win together. I'm very excited to be here," said the full-back, who signed on the same day that Englishman Trent Alexander-Arnold left the club to wear the colours of Spanish side Real Madrid until 2031.
A Manchester City graduate, Frimpong joined Scottish side Celtic in 2019 but in January 2021 he joined the Pharmacists, helping them win a Bundesliga, a German Cup and a Super Cup.
