João Almeida moves up to third in the Tour of Switzerland after finishing the stage in second place

Portuguese cyclist João Almeida (UAE Emirates) rose to third place in the Tour de Suisse today, finishing second in the fifth stage, behind Oscar Onley (Team Picnic PostNL), who crowned Kevin Vauquelin (Arkéa–B&B Hotels) as the new leader.
After winning Wednesday's stage, João Almeida, who was one of the animators of the last kilometers of the tough and selective fifth stage, returned to second place and rose from seventh to third place overall, 39 seconds behind Frenchman Kevin Vauquelin.
Briton Oscar Onley (Team Picnic PostNL) beat João Almeida to the finish line in a sprint, completing the 183.8 kilometres of the stage between La Punt and Santa Maria in Calanca in 4:33.28 hours, moving up from eighth to fourth overall.
Austrian Félix Gall (Decathlon AG2R La Mondiale Team) was third to cross the finish line of the queen stage, 23 seconds behind Onley and Almeida, and also moved up two positions in the overall standings, remaining in seventh position.
The fifth stage crowned Frenchman Kévin Vauquelin, fourth in the stage, 57 seconds behind Onley, as the new yellow jersey, dethroning his compatriot Romain Grégoire (Groupama FDJ), leader since the first stage and who struggled today, falling to 13th overall.
