Chess: Soure awards men's and women's trophy and titles

The final stages of the men's championships of the 1st, 2nd and 3rd divisions, the final four of the Portuguese Cup, and the women's team championship will be held in Soure, starting tomorrow and running until the 20th. There are nine days in which all chess paths lead to Soure.
This weekend, the Portuguese Cup Final Four and the National Women's Team Championship will take place at the Soure Social Innovation Center.
The 1st Division team competition begins on Monday at the Hotel das Termas do Bicanho.
The president of the Soure City Council, Mário Jorge Nunes, highlighted that the municipality “is hosting these finals for the second consecutive year” and promised to “continue to support this sport”.
Dominic Cross, president of the Portuguese Chess Federation, highlighted the presence of "a number of elite players" in Soure over the coming days. "The world champion, India's Gukesh Dommaraju, is registered, and we'll also have names like Ukrainian grandmaster Vasyl Ivanchuk, the under-20 world champion, also Indian, Pranav Venkatesh, and Armenian grandmaster Shant Sargsyan.
“We will have players from 26 nationalities here,” he highlighted.
