Benfica beats Sporting and wins the Super Cup for the 10th time

Benfica won the Cândido de Oliveira Super Cup yesterday for the 10th time in its history, after beating Sporting 1-0, in a game decided by a goal from Greek Pavlidis.
At the Algarve Stadium , in the game that awarded the first trophy of the 2025/26 football season, the 'eagles', led by Bruno Lage, scored the only goal of the match in the 50th minute, with a right-footed shot by Pavlidis.
With this triumph, Benfica, who won the League Cup last season, moved into second place in the Super Cup standings, with 10 wins, one more than Sporting, two-time national champion and holder of the Portuguese Cup, but still far from the record holder FC Porto, who has 24.
