Marcelo meets with German President and visits Bürgerfest

The President of the Republic meets this Friday with his German counterpart, Frank-Walter Steinmeier, in Berlin, and visits the Bürgerfest festival, a citizenship event that has Portugal as a guest country this year.
Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa will be received by Frank-Walter Steinmeier at his official residence, Bellevue Palace, in Berlin, at 11:00 am, with an official welcome ceremony, which will include the playing of the national anthems, a review and a flag salute.
The President of the Republic of Portugal will then have a bilateral meeting with his German counterpart , before going to lunch at a Portuguese restaurant in Berlin.
At around 4:40 pm, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa will go with Frank-Walter Steinmeier to the Bürgerfest festival (Citizens' Festival, in Portuguese), also at the Bellevue Palace, which this year has Portugal as a guest country.
The two-day festival aims to “honor volunteer work and promote civic engagement among citizens,” according to a note published on the official website of the Presidency of the Republic.
According to the Portuguese embassy in Germany, Portugal, as a guest country, will dedicate its stands to themes such as the sea, culture, national cuisine and even football , with the Nations League trophy won by the national team in June on display at one of the stands .
During his visit to Bürgerfest, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa will give a speech at the opening ceremony, visit the festival's stalls, and attend a debate on the theme "the day of honor — how it strengthens what unites us."
At the end of his visit to Bürgerfest, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa will attend concerts by the Portuguese band Black Mamba and the German country rock band The BossHoss.
Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa arrived in Berlin this Thursday for an official visit to Germany. On Saturday, the President of the Republic leaves for Lisbon at 11:00 a.m., with no scheduled agenda items in Berlin.
The last time Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa was in Germany was between June 7th and 8th, as part of the June 10th celebrations, when, together with the Prime Minister, Luís Montenegro, he met with the Portuguese community in Stuttgart.
During this brief visit to Germany, the President of the Republic also visited Munich where, with Luís Montenegro, he watched the national team's victory in the Nations League final against Spain at the stadium.
