Man arrested for raping institutionalized minors

A 39-year-old man was arrested for allegedly raping and abusing two 16-year-old girls who were institutionalized in Greater Porto, the Judicial Police (PJ) said on Tuesday.
In a statement, the PJ said that, “following escapes from the institutions in which they are housed, in Greater Porto”, the minors “met the suspect in a leisure location associated with drug trafficking and consumption”.
According to this criminal investigation force, “the man was willing to provide minors with narcotics and shelter in abandoned houses occupied by homeless people.”
“In these locations, the unconscious state of one of the victims due to drug use was taken advantage of to carry out significant sexual acts, and on another occasion, using the same modus operandi, another minor was forced into unwanted sexual acts,” the statement reads.
The detainee, a foreign citizen with no employment or fixed residence, will appear this Tuesday for his first judicial interrogation at the Porto Criminal Investigation Court for the application of coercive measures.
The detainee is suspected of several crimes against the freedom and sexual self-determination of young women.
