Ferrari extends multi-year contract with Frédéric Vasseur

Ferrari has renewed its contract with Formula 1 team principal Frédéric Vasseur for several years, the Italian team announced in a statement.

In the note, the transalpine team highlights the work carried out by the 57-year-old French engineer since taking over the leadership of the team in 2022, when he succeeded the Italian Mattia Binotto.

This contract renewal puts an end to reports that Vasseur could be leaving, after a disappointing first half of the season.

The announcement was welcomed by the team's two drivers, Monegasque Charles Leclerc and Briton Lewis Hamilton, who had already publicly expressed their support for Vasseur.

In the championship, which this weekend reaches its 14th round, the Hungarian Grand Prix, and is comfortably led by the two McLaren drivers, Ferrari are fifth (Leclerc) and sixth (Hamilton) in the standings, while the Italian team is second in the constructors' championship, already 268 points behind McLaren.
