Boris Johnson Admits Using ChatGPT to Write Books

When asked by the interviewer when he usually uses this tool, Johnson admitted that he does so as a writer. "I'm writing several books, and I just use it. I ask it questions," he declared, then immediately revealing how pleased he is to be praised for this artificial intelligence tool.
"ChatGPT always says, 'Oh, your questions are so smart. You're brilliant, you're excellent, you're so insightful.' I love it, I see huge potential in this technology because we're all simple. We're just human beings," he said, adding that AI could drastically reduce government costs and save taxpayers money.
Known for having received an excellent education at Eton School, one of the most prestigious in the country, and at Oxford University, Johnson began his career as a journalist before entering politics.
Throughout his career, he has published more than 10 books, including The Churchill Factor , a biography of Winston Churchill , and Unleashed , a memoir about his time as Prime Minister from 2019 to 2022.
However, as The Telegraph points out, it has been almost 10 years since he launched a biography of William Shakespeare, a project that has already generated more than one controversy.
Johnson signed a publishing deal with Hodder & Stoughton in 2015, when he was still Mayor of London, and it was originally scheduled for publication in 2016, to coincide with the 400th anniversary of Shakespeare's death.
Since then, however, Johnson's political rise—first as Foreign Secretary, then Prime Minister—and the signing of a multi-million dollar contract to write Unleashed, has meant that the biography has been postponed until "the near future," as the publisher announced.
The Shakespeare book was again a topic during the British commission of inquiry into the government's handling of Covid-19 in 2023. Johnson was forced to refute claims by Dominic Cummings, his former chief of staff, that he did not focus on the threat of the pandemic because he was writing the book.
