Sagres. Recreational fisherman dies on Baleeira beach

A recreational fisherman died this Friday on Baleeira beach, in Sagres, in the municipality of Vila do Bispo (Faro district), after falling from a pontoon, a source from the Lagos captaincy told Lusa news agency.

Lagos Port Captain Hugo da Guia, who was present at the scene, stated that the man, approximately 80 years old, fell from a pontoon, but the cause of death has not yet been determined. The victim's body was recovered shortly after the alert was raised at 10:59 a.m., and a doctor from the National Institute of Medical Emergency (INEM) declared him dead at the scene.

Around twenty personnel from the Maritime Police, the Lagos Volunteer Fire Department, the National Emergency Service (INEM), the Sagres Lifeboat Station and the Lagos Port Authority responded to this incident.
