Pacheco, nominated for the Supreme Federal Court, participates in the Fachin, Gonet and Alcolumbre meeting

Senator Rodrigo Pacheco (PSD-MG), who is being considered for a seat on the Supreme Federal Court, participated in a meeting on Monday the 13th with the presidents of the Supreme Federal Court, Edson Fachin , and the Senate, Davi Alcolumbre (União-AP). Also present at the meeting was Attorney General Paulo Gonet .
The meeting took place at the official residence of the Senate president in Brasília. The president of the Superior Court of Justice, Herman Benjamin , also participated in the meeting.
The meeting reportedly focused on a bill that addresses updates to court costs. Despite speculation, the meeting participants claim that the Supreme Court vacancy was not discussed . The officials left the meeting, which lasted about two hours, without speaking to the press.
In an Instagram post, Alcolumbre said Pacheco was present at the meeting because he is the author of the proposed update to the Civil Code and also the chairman of the temporary committee created to discuss the matter. "We discussed important issues for Brazil that have been debated since Pacheco's term as Senate president," he said.
"In any case, today's meeting reaffirms our respect and recognition for the importance of the Judiciary to the country. Ongoing dialogue and joint efforts are essential to strengthening institutions and building a more just and balanced Brazil," the Senate leader added.
Pacheco is among the names considered for President Lula's (Workers' Party) choice, alongside Attorney General Jorge Messias . Also mentioned as 'supremary' are the president of the Superior Military Court, Maria Elizabeth Rocha , and the minister of the Federal Court of Auditors, Bruno Dantas .
The vacant seat on the court is due to the early retirement of Minister Luís Roberto Barroso , announced last week.
