Federal deputy Sâmia Bomfim (PSOL-SP) filed this Monday 14th a request with the Chamber's Foreign Affairs Committee to approve a motion of repudiation against the president of the United States, Donald Trump, for his decision to tax imports of Brazilian products by 50% .
Trump's claims to justify the tariff hike, says Sâmia, are nothing more than "a fanciful and politically motivated narrative, and an unacceptable act of international interference."
Last Wednesday, the 9th, the same committee approved a motion of praise and commendation for the President of the United States. The vote took place hours before the tycoon announced the tariff.
The proposal came from the leader of the PL, Sóstenes Cavalcante (RJ), with the signatures of Gustavo Gayer (PL-GO) and Luiz Philippe de Orleans e Bragança (PL-SP).
The Bolsonaro supporter's argument is that Trump deserves recognition for his supposed "brilliant work as president of the greatest nation and for his tireless fight in defense of democracy and freedom of expression across the planet."
The score in the collegiate was 23 votes to approve the motion and five to reject it.

After difficult years , we've returned to a Brazil that feels at least a little bit normal. This new normal, however, remains fraught with uncertainty . The Bolsonaro threat persists, and the appetites of the market and Congress continue to pressure the government. Abroad, the global rise of the far right and the brutality in Gaza and Ukraine risk imploding the fragile foundations of global governance.
