Hungria's sister talks about the rapper's methanol poisoning: 'I taste like gasoline in my mouth'

On Thursday morning (2), rapper Hungria Hip Hop , stage name of Gustavo da Hungria Neves , needed to be hospitalized in Brasília after presenting serious symptoms, including nausea, vomiting and severe malaise. According to the artist's sister, Manoela Hungria , the first signs that something was not right appeared early. "He called me around 8:20 am saying that he was feeling very sick. He said he had a strong taste of gasoline in his mouth and (felt) weak" , he told the press in front of the DF Star Hospital, where the singer is hospitalized.
According to Manoela , the musician had attended a gathering with friends in Vicente Pires, where he consumed vodka purchased from a distributor. The family, however, still doesn't know if the source of the drink is related to his clinical condition. "We don't know if it was from this specific distributor, because when he arrived, they shared the same bottle of vodka with other friends, who didn't get sick," she explained. The detail that caught his attention was that only Hungria drank most of a bottle, which, according to her sister, was sent to the appropriate authorities for analysis.
Hospital DF Star reported that Hungria remains in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) under specialized medical care. The report released by doctors Leandro Machado, Guilherme Meyer , and Allisson Borges highlighted that the singer is "conscious, oriented, stable, breathing spontaneously, and without visual alterations." As a preventative measure, hemodialysis treatment was initiated to aid in the elimination of potential toxic substances. Although his condition is stable, there is still no estimated date for his hospital discharge.
On the recommendation of the medical team, all of the artist's professional commitments have been suspended. "On medical advice and in order to protect his health, the shows scheduled for this weekend will be rescheduled. The artist remains under observation and is no longer at imminent risk," his publicist said in a statement. At 14, Hungria began gaining national recognition with his compositions and today has over 12 million followers on social media.
