Flamengo's team reaches astronomical value on the market

Flamengo has built one of the most valuable squads in Brazilian football, fueled by a series of high-profile signings during the mid-year transfer window. In total, the Rio de Janeiro club invested approximately €43 million (equivalent to R$274 million) solely on acquiring the economic rights of new players to strengthen the first team.

Among the newcomers to the red-black squad are players with recent history in European football, such as Jorginho, Saúl Ñíguez, Emerson Royal and Samuel Lino. In addition to them, the club announced this Thursday (July 31) the signing of midfielder Jorge Carrascal, who played for Dynamo Moscow and has a relevant stint at River Plate.

With this significant reinforcement, coach Filipe Luís now has a squad that, if he uses the players most highly valued according to Transfermarkt, could field a starting lineup valued at €138 million—the equivalent of approximately R$880 million. This figure exceeds the total value of the squads of 17 of the 20 clubs currently competing in Serie A.

In the possible starting lineup, the most valuable players include goalkeeper Rossi (€7 million), defenders Léo Ortiz (€13 million) and Léo Pereira (€8 million), full-backs Emerson Royal (€9 million) and Viña (€7 million), midfielders Jorginho (€6 million), De la Cruz (€18 million) and Arrascaeta (€15 million), as well as forwards Lorran (€11 million), Samuel Lino (€22 million) and Pedro (€22 million).

The presence of key players on the bench further reinforces the squad's strength. Names like Gonzalo Plata (€7 million), Carrascal (€7 million), Everton Cebolinha (€8 million), and Ayrton Lucas (€7 million) remain available options to rotate the squad or modify the game throughout the match.

In this context, the responsibility now falls to coach Filipe Luís, who will face the challenge of not only organizing a competitive team but also managing the harmony and balance among high-profile players. After all, the internal environment and harmony among athletes are crucial factors in athletic performance throughout the season.

Although the team boasts great technical depth, proper management will be crucial to transforming the significant investments into concrete achievements. Flamengo, already among the highest-grossing clubs in South American football, reinforces its position as a protagonist on and off the field.
