Fátima: Georgina Rodríguez's Dog's Name Sparks Outrage

Georgina Rodríguez recently introduced the newest member of her family. The model adopted a Chihuahua named...Fátima! And it was the name choice that sparked the controversy.

Fatima is the name of the daughter of the Prophet Muhammad, considered sacred to Islam.

The subject was discussed on the program 'V+ Fama' with Cláudia Jacques, the format's commentator, giving her opinion.

"I don't think it's right and it's a great lack of respect towards the country where you live to call the dog this name.

They've even sent her messages asking her to reconsider, to understand that this is an insult to religion. And to change the dog's name; it doesn't look right; she needs to respect the place where she lives. This looks very bad on Georgina," reveals Cláudia Jacques.

Pimpinha Jardim, who is also part of the panel of commentators, said: "She didn't think about that when she named the dog, I don't believe it was intentional. [...] Since Georgina lives in Saudi Arabia and some Muslims were a little offended, the name is recent, the dog hasn't gotten used to it, it's up to the family whether to change it or not," she confessed.

António Leal e Silva highlights the importance of the family now having an animal for the development of children but considers the name a "mistake".

"It's a faux pas. [...] We Catholics are open, there are people who even like it. Those who understand a little about the Muslim religion... these are people who take things more seriously. Calling her Fatima was a poor choice of name, given that she lived in Saudi Arabia," he concluded.
