According to Dutch baker Joost Arijs, the most common mistake is storing bread in plastic bags. But don't worry: there are much more effective methods to keep your bread soft and crispy for longer.
Why does plastic spoil bread? It may seem practical, but plastic bags are a terrible way to preserve bread. They prevent air circulation, leaving the food moist and accelerating the growth of mold. Storing bread on cold counters or cabinets also doesn't solve the problem if there's no adequate ventilation.
